With a world being termed as Global village, it is time for human race to seriously think in global terms. With global warming, every country is realizing they can’t have silo existence as they are interdependent on each other. With Euro unity, Europeans can travel, work freely with in Europe and why not this concept is extended world wide so that people can work, move, travel wherever they like after fulfilling some basic conditions. Today processes, systems are computerized. A person from any country can be tracked by a number of methods. In western world and to some extent far eastern countries, record keeping is flawless, so based on this say UN comes out with a global citizen charter who after fulfilling certain conditions can work, go any where in the world. Adding more and more people in this group year wise in one generation we would be able to make it a borderless world. Now people falling into this category have to have a native country as it is not a planned migration, but in the host country they would be governed by host country law or Global law which ever gives more freedom to individuals. This Global person would carry a Global passport, issued by a Global body say under UN supervision. This global person would take an oath to abide by global charter (laws) and would be tried by Global court in case of discovered illegal activities. Information about this global citizen would be accessible to all the countries that are part of this initiative. If some countries opt out earlier, this is fine as people take time to study, adjust to new realities. As one is global citizen, biometrics information about them would be part of this record keeping. Like ISS (International Space Station) collaborative effort this would be also a collaborative effort, so a person opting to part of this group would be willing to provide all information about him and in lieu of the same one is able to freely move with in the world. With time these visas won’t be needed and world governance would evolve towards global system. One would say US would try to dominate or China may not like this freedom for people entering in their country of flood gates of immigrants would open from India . All kinds of issues are there and can be tackled if there is a will. We need to provide a framework for all these concepts and tackle the issues as we move forward. Naturally to start with if a person is to be globally acceptable, countries would demand only educated, professionals, depicting religion tolerance are given this choice. As these global citizens would be verifiable across the world, their numbers in a host country would be always known and with time depending on a country’s resources there can be restriction on permanent settling of these global citizens of that country, or this country is able to trade their global citizens with other countries. The emphasis of all these concepts is no country can take a unilateral decision to come out and join in this forum. All participating countries need to respect the framed guidelines. With Global citizens there can be global universities, hospitals, factories as one can see wherever you are living, and these are the basic issues which one grapples with in life. With global facilities being shared across the countries, interdependence would increase and it would result in fewer wars in the world. Then whole world acting as whole, irritant pockets of trouble spots can be tackled. This would be barter or Give and Take system and no country would be able to dominate the system. In a collective, collaborative mode we would be able to resolve world problems like hunger, work, education, health and scientific progress and aim to populate the solar system.
