Good read. I also feel women's role in the society can be changed by women themselves and a man is not that chauvinists as they are made out to be. It is a tough real world out there. It is just my observation, I may be wrong, but women talk about their women colleagues/relatives in so negative terms and so regularly that one just shudders. In general, I find woman feels happier working under a man than woman in the office. I have felt many times that many women show it as a brand that they they are perennial victims.

Have a look at my entry on the subject

Business Sense or Nonsense

And the height is these prices in India cost more than 2 - 3 times from the countries of their origin. Building on your observation, I find in Hyderabad at every 2nd Kilometer there is a Reebook store, always empty, always having more sales boys than actual buyers stocking these shoes in range of Rs 4000 - 10000/ for a pair of shoes, and these 5K monthly salary clerks with their condescending impression when you refuse to buy.  Their philosphy is to take their profit from first customer itself. Brand my foot - in this money I can buy 10 pairs of shoes of local brand i.e. change my pair every six months or get shoes of my whole family and gift equal numbers.

Whose Copyright?

Hi philippi999,

Yes ! I agree with you.

In fact I also find in this digital age all these software companies harp a lot about IPRs and copyrights, but conveniently forget when their turn comes. This thing nags me a lot; so much so I had posted two entries Copy Rights IPRs Myths and what not  ..... IPRs, Copy Rights Chuck them away .... earlier.

Check these out.

Delhi ladies in day & night

I don't understand what is this fuss about women being allowed in bars in night. On one hand woman wants to compete with man and on other hand you want to be choosy. Crimes happen in all societies, countries whether it is Saudi Arabia where they keep their woman in Purdah or in Western countries USA, Europe you name it. It is saying - Woman is never safe anywhere, so is flying, driving ... whatever you name it. One does not stop driving because of an accident in the road. So one needs to take precautions. How Shiela Dixit a lady CM is to blame. Let us talk about her actions. See her as a leader not as a woman. If one analyzes you would see there would be equal share of woman (with man) in tormenting a woman. A woman has chosen to go out to work, earn and become financially indepenedent. These are good signs. People in West are doing well because there work is worship, there women do all kinds of jobs liking driving taxis in the night, working in the pubs, bars, stores, restaurants and they don't get pick up and drop from their home. They commute  themselves.

Blogging in Hindi and Hindi Fiction

Thank you all for your feedback and enlightening me about these titles which I would be procuring soon. I find it a bit of task communicating in Hindi using English alphabets and after one or two lines sort of give it up. Still hopeful and waiting for Sulekha to launch this service in Hindi.

What BJP should have done?

Hi GreatThinker,

What I have suggested is an approach. The idea can be tweaked depending on circumstances. The issue is basically to generate trust. BJP has become more laughing stock now as they are found to repeatedly so gullible. If you want to rule, you need to be street smart. Mistakes always happen, but repeating the same mistake again and again is foolishness. Media is usually biased against BJP and this idea comes in to play only when you have a bigger share (seats), but unable to form the government.

Elections, Politicians and Mathematics

Hi,

You said it. On top of it these analyses even in these generic equations they make it so simple (like editors of the newspapers having solution to everything) that it looks like zero sum game. No one bothers that 44% did not cast their vote. When these techniques were introduced in Indian elections (I remember Prannay Roy (now of NDTV) introducing these concepts on Doordarshan - I think it was some time in late 1980's) but I agree these days they cover only 4 - 5 variables. Swing, Caste, Region .... I think it is time to add more number of variables in these equations, giving a fresh look.

Good insight.
